The Compoundrix app icon: a gold spiral on a dark square For Mac and iPhone

A ledger you own.Every figure traced to its transactions.

Compoundrix is for people who keep track of their own money and want to know how far they are from not needing a salary. It brings your bank accounts, your investments and your home together in one place, on your own Mac and iPhone, and tells you what you are worth, what you spend, what you keep, and how long until work becomes optional. Every figure opens to show the transactions behind it, so you never have to take it on faith. With Pro, your Macs and iPhones stay in step through your own iCloud.

Compoundrix on the Mac: the Overview with net worth, savings rate, the FI number and the FI progress ring, beside the account sidebar
Compoundrix on the iPhone: the Overview tab with net worth and this month's spending

Everything on this page is the sample ledger you can explore the first time you open the app. Try the deep reports there, then start your own.

Provenance: where your net worth came from Pro

Not just how much. Where it came from.

One number tells you what you are worth. Provenance tells you how it got there: what you earned and held on to, what your savings paid you, what you brought in from elsewhere, and what the market added. The pieces add up to the whole, to the cent.

  • Earned from work
  • Passive income
  • Brought in
  • The market
  • Click any band and see the entries behind it. No figure without its source.
  • Decide which accounts count. Every report follows.
The Provenance report: a waterfall from last year's net worth to this year's, split into earned, passive income, brought in and market
Portfolio

Everything you hold, in one ring.

Shares, funds, crypto, cash in any currency and the house you live in, each slice the size of what it is worth today. What you hold, less what you owe, is the number every other screen shows.

Held · owed · net worth. Prices update daily from the source you choose; exchange rates come from the European Central Bank.

  • A broker statement that says how many shares you hold is all it needs.
  • A benchmark line shows what the same money would have done in an index. Sometimes humbling, always useful.
The Portfolio report: a ring with one slice per asset and a legend of values and shares beside it
Cash Flow · Savings · Independence

One number for freedom, and an honest road to it.

What came in, what went out and what was left, month by month. A savings rate measured the same way everywhere. One figure for financial independence, twenty-five times what you spend, and how far along you are, with projections you can check line by line.

Cash Flow

What came in, what went out, what you kept. The mortgage goes out here, as it does from your account, but the part that pays down the debt still counts as saved.

Savings

What you put away each month and the twelve-month rate, so one odd month does not spoil the picture.

FI progress

How close you are, when you could stop adding and just let it grow, and the date the projections point to.

Spending by category

Where the money actually goes, by category and by who you paid, for any period you like.

Year over Year Pro

This year against the last, line by line, so a change has a name.

Returns

What your investments really made, after everything you put in and took out, when you want the detail.

Checkpoints

Your statement balance is all it takes.

Type in what the bank or the broker says you hold on a given day. Compoundrix compares it with what your transactions add up to and books the difference as an entry you can see, right there in the ledger. Import the missing transactions later and the gap shrinks until it is gone.

Transactions add up to12 340,00
Statement says, 30 Sep12 415,50
Checkpoint difference · derived+75,50
  • A gap on a bank account is filed where you will notice it, not hidden.
  • A gap on an investment can be booked as the market's doing, and shows up as such.
  • Splits, tags, and transfers between currencies and assets.
The ledger on the Mac: transactions by day, with a checkpoint and the difference it booked
Import

Bring your history. Leave the duplicates behind.

Compoundrix reads the files your bank already gives you: CSV, Excel, PDF, OFX, QIF, even a table copied from a web page. It works out the columns, shows you what it is about to add, and marks what it already has before anything is written.

  • What you already have is marked before you commit, transfers included.
  • Categories suggested from what you did last time. Suggested, never decided for you.
  • Your transactions leave as easily as they came in: as CSV, or the whole file. With Pro, any chart as CSV and the whole ledger as a spreadsheet with live formulas.

On the iPhone

The same ledger, on your iPhone.

A small, calm companion. The figures that matter, a quick way to add a purchase on the spot, and the main reports, worked out exactly as the Mac does, so both tell you the same number. On its own it is a free ledger; with Pro it stays in step with your Mac.

Compoundrix Pro

Sync, and the deep reports, when you want them.

Pro keeps one ledger on every Mac and iPhone you own, through your own iCloud, and opens the Advanced side of the Mac app: the reports that take a figure apart, the table behind every chart, and the whole ledger as a spreadsheet you can take anywhere.

Year over Year: earned, spending and saved, each year against the one before, and the savings rate

Your data

There is no Compoundrix server.

Your ledger is a file on your device. Sync goes through your own iCloud, not through us. There is nothing of yours for us to read.

On your device

One file, backed up every day and before anything you cannot undo. On the Mac, to a folder you choose.

In your iCloud

With Pro, your entries travel through your private iCloud, encrypted on the way and where they rest.

No tracking

No account to create, no analytics, no ads, no bank logins. The app asks no price service for anything until you choose one, and then only for what you hold.

Yours to take

Take your transactions out as CSV any time, or copy the file itself. Read the privacy policy.

Pricing

Free to use. Pro to sync.

The ledger is free on each device. Compoundrix Pro is one subscription that covers every Mac and iPhone you sign in to.

Questions

What people ask before they start.

What can Compoundrix keep track of?
Your whole net worth: current and savings accounts, shares, funds, crypto, cash in any currency, the house you live in and the mortgage on it. Every holding is priced by the figures you state or, if you choose a source, daily from it — a market data provider with your own key, or a statistics office's published series — the house at the value you give it, and each figure opens to the transactions behind it.
Does it connect to my bank?
No. You bring in statements as CSV, Excel, PDF, OFX or QIF, paste rows from a web page, or type an entry on the spot. There are no bank logins and no third party in between. Nothing of yours leaves your device.
Is it a budgeting app?
It is a ledger and a net worth tracker rather than a budget. It does not ask you to set limits. It shows what came in, what went out and what you kept, by category and by who you paid, and how this month compares with your usual.
What is the FI number?
Financial independence, in one figure: twenty-five times a year of your spending, the amount at which your investments can pay for your life. Compoundrix shows how close you are, how fast you are getting there, and the transactions that moved the needle.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Your ledger is a file on your Mac or iPhone, and every report is worked out there. The app only goes online for prices, and only from a source you have chosen, and, with Pro, to sync through your own iCloud.
Which currencies does it handle?
Any. Accounts can be in different currencies, transfers between them keep both sides, and your net worth is shown in the currency you live in.
Where is my data stored?
In one file on your device, backed up every day. With Pro it also travels through your private iCloud, encrypted on the way and where it rests. There is no Compoundrix server, no account to create and no analytics. You can take your transactions out as CSV, or copy the file, at any time.
Is there an iPad, Windows or Android version?
No. Compoundrix is for the Mac, on macOS 26 or later, and the iPhone, on iOS 26 or later.
Do I need the subscription?
No. The ledger is free on each device, with no time limit. Compoundrix Pro adds sync between your devices and the deeper reports. If you stop paying, your ledger stays yours and fully readable; only the Pro parts switch off.
